From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Defender Jamie Carragher has warned Liverpool's Barclays Premier League rivals not to write off the Reds' title challenge just yet.

Rafael Benitez's side came in for criticism after losing two of their opening three league games but responded by coming from behind to triumph 3-2 at Bolton on Saturday.

Carragher believes that result typifies the team's character and insists they are the best in the business at recovering when on the ropes.

"We have taken a bit of criticism and rightly so, because we haven't made the best of starts," the 31-year-old, whose team picked up 22 points from losing positions last term, told The Sun.

"But no-one can ever write us off. Ourselves and Manchester United, not just in this league but probably anywhere in the world, are the best at coming back from deficits and winning games.

"At Bolton, the lads showed what great character we have.

"It was so important to get those three points, especially with the international break coming up."
