Mane had already put Liverpool 1-0 in front when he was chipped in behind the Watford defence by Trent Alexander-Arnold.
His first touch seemed to have taken away his momentum, as the ball squirmed behind him, but the Senegalese forward improvised brilliantly as he swivelled and delivered a brilliant backheel finish.
The ball dug into the turf and over a perplexed Ben Foster as Liverpool extended their advantage at Anfield, and closed in on another crucial victory in their quest for the title.
