Former Liverpool and Real Madrid star Steve McManaman has become the latest critic of Jose Mourinho's Chelsea and their 'boring' style of play.

After drawing 0-0 at the Emirates on Sunday, Chelsea almost guaranteed they would win the Premier League title this season, as they need just five points from their final five matches.

But Chelsea have drawn criticism for their style of play in recent months, with the January win over Swansea the last time they won in the Premier League by two clear goals. They have picked up key results against Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City by playing defensively and grinding out results.

Jose Mourinho has told Chelsea critics to "go and play on the moon" if they think Chelsea are boring.

McManaman, speaking on BT Sport's new show Football Tonight, said that while he "admire and respects" Chelsea and would "love" to play for them, he "doesn't like the way they play".

"[Are they a bit of a turn off?] Yes. Would I want to play in this side? Yes I would, I would love to play in this side, because if it means you are winning the Barclays Premier League, I would love to play in this side.

"Are they a turn off? I think they are. I admire Chelsea and I respect Chelsea, but I don’t like the way they play I must admit. I think recent games where they just got results, I think the champions of this country should have a little bit more about them.

"When I look around Europe and see how other teams play their style of football. I think Real Madrid fans wouldn't put up with that type of performance. I think Barcelona wouldn’t and I certainly think Bayern Munich wouldn't."
