Your support makes all the difference.El Hadji Diouf has launched a bizarre and expletive-laden attack on former Liverpool stars Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher, calling the latter ‘shit’, mocking the former and proclaiming himself a ‘world-class’ player.
Diouf is remembered less than fondly at Anfield. The Senagalese was signed by Gerard Houllier for £10m in the summer of 2002 and was hailed as the striker who would take the club to the Premier League.
He scored just six goals for the club in three years, and gained notoriety for spitting at a Celtic fan during a Uefa Cup match in 2003. His poor attitude and lack of commitment made him a deeply unpopular figure, with Carragher since stating Diouf ‘was always the last one to get picked in training’.
Diouf has criticised both Anfield greats in the past, but took things a step further this week. “The difference between Jamie [Carragher] and me is that I am a world-class player and he is a s***,” 35-year-old Sabah forward Diouf, whose only major honour in nine years in England was the 2003 League Cup, told So Foot.
“The type of s*** that writes a book and mentions me all the time. Me, in my book, he does not warrant one phrase: he’s a f****** loser.”
Diouf then turned on Carragher’s fellow European Cup winner Gerrard, the former Liverpool captain who made more than 600 appearances for the club.
“When I represented Senegal, he [Gerrard] never managed 100th of that for England. He has never done anything in the World Cup or Euros’.
