The forward line is complete, the defence has been bolstered by Virgil Van Dijk and Allison, and the midfield has seemingly been given its £39m Brazilian anchor. But since arriving at the very start of the season, Fabinho has started just one game.
The Brazilian's start to life at Anfield has not gone as expected as he continues to struggled to break into the first team, but Fabinho says he is beginning to adapt to the Premier League as well as Jurgen Klopp’s style of play, which has been holding him back.
"My process to adapt to English football has been very good,” he told the club’s website. “Since pre-season I believe I've understood the way Jurgen Klopp plays and the way the team plays.
"My relationship with my team-mates has also been very good, especially with the Brazilians. Roberto Firmino has been helping me, as well as Alisson,” added the former Monaco midfielder.
Liverpool go into the international break joint leaders of the league with Chelsea and Manchester City and are well positioned in their Champions League group after beating PSG at home, despite losing late to Napoli in Naples. They were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Chelsea which will ease the reliance on squad rotation, but wanting to challenge for the Premier League title and European honours will require input from the squad players.
Klopp seemed short on quality options to bring on from the bench during last season’s campaign, but after a big summer spend, and the arrival of Naby Keita, Liverpool have significantly better options, including Fabinho.
"I've been playing a little bit more and that's important, because it's important to adapt on the pitch by playing matches,” said the Brazilian.
"It's a new experience for me, because Klopp has a different way of working from the way I'm used to. But this is something I will learn.
"I've already learned a few things from him, but this is just the start. He's a coach who demands a lot from his players, not only in matches, but on a daily basis in training."
