From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Liverpool fans who shelled out money to have Luis Suarez's name on the back of their replica shirts will not have their money refunded.

The Liverpool Echo report that a club source has confirmed that no automatic refunds will be given to fans who have spent money having 'Suarez 7' printed.

An adult short sleeve shirt with the extra printing on the official Liverpool website store will set supporters back £64.99, while it costs £56.99 for youth sizes, without delivery.

Suarez, who has had his appeal to reduce the severity of the ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini rejected, has left Liverpool in a blockbuster move to Barcelona.

With the season starting in August, many fans have been left furious after already making their purchase.

Club sources have told the Echo say they have sympathy for fans in this position, but say shirts become non-refundable when they are personalised.
