Klopp, who has clashed with rival managers Tony Pulis and Sam Allardyce in recent weeks, had become angered by the decisions of the officials during the first-half of the Premier League encounter.
Wenger then stepped across the technical area to speak to the German, but Klopp insisted he was merely questioning the awarding of a throw-in.
“I told Arsene why I was a little bit emotional,” Klopp said. “But please, this is not about me and Arsene Wenger.
“It was a clear throw-in for us, in a good moment, but the assistant referee, I didn’t know what he was doing, so I asked what he did. But he didn’t like that
“I had nothing with Sam Allardyce, and nothing with Arsene Wenger, but obviously it was too much.
“The ref came over and spoke, but I have no argument with Arsene Wenger.”
Wenger admitted he had spoken to Klopp in a bid to urge the Liverpool manager to settle down on the touchline.
“I told him just calm down,” Wenger said. “At Liverpool it is very tight and you are very close to each other.
“He had a little problem with the fourth official, he can explain better than I.
“But it was alright. There was no bad feeling.”
