Jamie Vardy will link up with his Leicester City team-mates in Los Angeles this week ahead of the International Champions Cup meeting with French champions Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.

The 29-year-old has enjoyed a hectic summer schedule which has included signing a four-year contract extension with the Premier League champions, marrying his wife Rebekah, representing England at Euro 2016 and becoming a father for the second time.

Leicester’s players have already played twice this summer, defeating both Oxford United and Celtic, the latter on penalties last weekend, before parading the Premier League trophy with former Manchester United winger David Beckham this week.

In June, Vardy rejected the advances of Arsenal despite being offered a more lucrative contract after the north London outfit triggered the £22m release clause in his previous contract. In the former Fleetwood striker’s absence, Claudio Ranieri has secured the record signing of £16m CSKA Moscow forward Ahmed Musa but his position is believed to be safe.

Riyad Mahrez, Vardy’s partner in crime for Leicester last season, has been linked with a £40m switch to Arsenal but the Algerian is thought to be happy to stay at the King Power Stadium, although it is likely to take wages in excess of £100,000-a-week to commit.

Rebekah Vardy posted a photograph on to Instagram on Tuesday of the couple in the ocean with the captain: “Had the most incredible time together @vardy7. Now on to #LA.”

The England striker is set to be put on an intense fitness regime to get him back to speed ahead of the Community Shield clash against Manchester United on 7 August before the Foxes commence their title defence against newly-promoted Hull City the following Saturday.

Speaking to the media during England’s stay in France this summer, however, Vardy offered some insight into his unique training regime: “If I go in the gym it will slow me down.[Managers have] tried and not succeeded. The last time I lifted a weight was probably that can of Red Bull the other day.”

He added: “It's just something I've always done and they've been checked with the medical team, and there's nothing wrong with them. I wouldn't call it a diet, the Red Bull was just to wake me up in the morning.

“It's just standard me, a bit of Red Bull. It's not a regular thing whereby I have a Red Bull every morning. It's just something I felt I needed that day.”
