From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Liverpool's versatile Dutch forward Dirk Kuyt has confirmed that talks took place with Internazionale over the summer, before the Reds declared their player not for sale.

Kuyt, 30, was heavily linked with a move away from Anfield, especially after former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez took charge at the San Siro.

However, Liverpool eventually opted to keep hold of Kuyt, who has scored 52 goals in 204 appearances in his four years on Merseyside.

Kuyt commented: "I cannot deny there were negotiations with Inter.

"It was pleasing to be courted by such a prestigious club, led by the coach who brought me to England and with whom I still have a splendid rapport.

"However, Liverpool declared I was not for sale and I am, in any case, happy to have stayed in the Premier League."
