Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Liverpool great Robbie Fowler has said that he wants to part of Jurgen Klopp's backrom staff when the German takes charge at Anfield.
It is expected that the former Borussia Dortmund manager Klopp will be unveiled at Liverpool on Friday, signing a three-yeat deal.
Fowler, who scored 184 goals for the Reds in two spells at Liverpool, is currently an official ambassador for the club. His only previous managerial experience came in Thailand.
"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested if a new manager comes in and I'd love to be on the backroom staff," Fowler said.
"Liverpool's a massive part of my life. If that was to be the case than I'd absolutely love that."
On Klopp, Fowler said: "My personal opinion is he's a very good manager. I don't know him as a man, I've never met him. Looking at him from an outsider I was impressed with his performances over Germany for Dortmund. That's all it is.
"I like what I see, but that's exactly the same as Carlo Ancelotti. I like his manner, I like Jurgen Klopp's manner, I like the way they are with the teams. They've got the teams playing great football, good football we deserve at Liverpool. Both of these managers can supply that."
Klopp has asked to bring former assistants Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz as part of his coaching staff, according to reports.
