Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The highly-rated Klopp was unveiled as the club's new manager this morning, signing a three-year deal worth £15m.
"Great appointment from Lfc in getting Jurgen Klopp to Anfield. Can't wait to start working with him," Carragher wrote on Twitter, prompting wild celebrations from Reds' fans on social media. Before Carragher then clarified what he meant.
"MNF of course! He looks the type who will come live into the studio!!"
Speaking to LFC TV this morning, Carragher described Klopp as an "A-class manager."
"With the appointment of Klopp, after what he has achieved in the Bundesliga, if Man United were looking for a manager, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Man City, he would come into the reckoning for all those club."
"He has got a charisma about him, he's got a personality. Everyone thought that at Dortmund. You're hoping that with his personality and his track record, he can attract players to the club. Part of managing is what players you can attract to the club."
"The first thing is to get a win at Tottenham, to start well. The league is still very open, especially the start Chelsea have made. There may be one position (in the top four) that may be open that was closed last season. Top four would be a great start to his Liverpool career."
