Jose Mourinho insists Tottenham Hotspur can win the Premier League next season.

The new Spurs manager spoke at his first press conference since returning on Wednesday.

And the Portuguese has ruled out a title challenge this year, with Spurs in 14th and 20 points off leaders Liverpool.

But next season he remains convinced Spurs could push for their first title in 60 years.

“We can’t win the Premier League this season,” Mourinho maintained.

“Next season, I’m not saying we will win it, but we can win it.”

Mourinho also hinted at working with his squad, rather than bringing in a lot of new faces in the transfer window.

“The best gift are the players who are here,” Mourinho claimed.

“I don’t need new players. I just need to get to know these ones better.

“I know them well but you never know them well enough until you meet them.”
