Mourinho said: “I’m not happy because my team didn’t play well enough or as well as I expected. We had periods of good football but not consistently and I expected more from my team.
“With our quality I expected them to do much better even though we played against a side who were very good defensively. I think we deserved the win but we didn’t play very well.”
Rangers boss, Harry Redknapp, was disappointed with the penalty awarded to Chelsea, which was both won and converted by Eden Hazard after a foul by Eduardo Vargas.
Redknapp said: “I’m not saying it wasn’t a penalty but I felt it was a bit soft. Hazard and Vargas are only tiny guys and Hazard just bounced off him. It was a shoulder charge and they both hit each other.”
