From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Chelsea captain John Terry has revealed his picks for the Premier League Team of the Year as well as for individual awards.

The 35-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer, put his choices on his Instagram account, having done the same last year.

The chaotic nature of this season has shown itself in his picks, with Terry picking only two of the same players from his selection a year ago; Terry is not allowed to pick any of his Chelsea team-mates (although only Willian would come anywhere close to a team of the year after an awful season for the Blues).

Terry, who has had calls to return to the England set up ahead of Euro 2016, also made his selection for the Players' Player of the Year award and the Young Player of the Year.

He has picked Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez for the top prize - the Algerian has been utterly brilliant this season, scoring 16 goals and adding 11 assists for the tabe topping Foxes.

For the Young Player award Terry has made the same selection he did a year ago, Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, who won it a year ago.

The England striker broke onto the scene last year for Spurs but has improved his goal's tally this year with Mauricio Pochettino's team mounting a serious title bid.
