Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck has revealed he nominated Chelsea's Eden Hazard for PFA Player of the Year ahead of Sunday's awards evening.

Hazard has scored 13 goals this season and provided eight assists, helping the Blues all-but seal a fourth Premier League title of the Roman Abramovich era.

A few hours after the 0-0 draw between Arsenal and Chelsea, the Belgium international beat Gunner Alexis Sanchez to become the PFA Player of the Year and Welbeck revealed he was one of those to choose the Chelsea playmaker.

"It was no surprise to see Alexis nominated," he told the Evening Standard. "He has been one of the special players this season and he’s proved that time and again. I couldn’t vote for him though as a team-mate.

"I voted for Eden Hazard. I just love watching the way he plays, the way he influences games. He’s always a dangerous player at any time of the game, anywhere on the pitch.

"He can make that difference and since he has come to the Premier League, he has got better every year. He keeps getting better and this season he’s been top class. I had to vote for him."
