From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Robert Huth has told Chelsea that he does not want to join Bayern Munich, or indeed any other club.
Chelsea looked in danger of losing the German defender when Bayern said they wanted to sign him. Huth's eagerness to stay indicates that even the players on the fringes of Jose Mourinho's squad are happy to stay. He said: "I'm staying here, unless the club wants to get rid of me. It's not an issue, even if some people say it is."
Huth, who has made just two starting appearances and four as substitute this season, added: "The manager said that from the first day he came here, he wanted to have a group and you can see we've got that now. I've never had the feeling of being out of it since I came here nearly five years ago. When I was injured, the whole staff were absolutely magnificent."
Chelsea meet Bayern in the quarter-finals of the Champions' League assuming the sport's European governing body, Uefa, does not throw them out following their disrepute charge relating to the trip to Barcelona.
