Harry Redknapp has confirmed that Queen's Park Rangers' Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar is likely to leave Loftus Road this summer.

Rangers have already been relegated from the Premier League and Redknapp said Cesar is "not a player for the Championship", which is why, along with a slight injury to Cesar, Redknapp has picked Rob Green recently.

"He's had a little bit of a back injury," Redknapp said of Cesar, signed last summer from Internazionale, where he won the treble of European Cup, Italian Cup and Serie A titles in 2010. "But it is a difficult one because I don't see him playing here next season, so I want to play Rob Green."

Green joined on a free transfer from West Ham United last summer and is set to continue in the second tier next season. "Rob will probably be my goalkeeper next season," Redknapp added. "Julio is in the Brazil team. He is not a player for the Championship. He has got a World Cup coming up. He needs to be playing in the Premier League or a big league abroad."

While there will be an exodus of leading players from Rangers this summer, likely to be led by the French striker Loïc Rémy, Redknapp hopes to keep hold of Christopher Samba, who joined in January, even if he has missed recent games.

"Chris has got an injury, a knee injury," Redknapp explained. "I don't know what will happen with him. I'd like to keep him at the club, he'd be the best centre-half in the Championship. He had one bad day at Fulham and everyone got on his case. He's a good player and we need him back playing."
