From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

For the first time Alan Curbishley can start to feel like he does not have to keep more than one eye on relegation worries. The demise of the transfer market and the financial woes striking football mean that neat, nimble clubs such as Charlton are better placed than many. A top 10 finish must be the aim, with the hope of sneaking into Europe. Charlton have plenty of steel, especially away from home, to add to their pleasing play. But goals are a premium which may ultimately count against them. The recent good run has coincided with the return of midfielder Scott Parker and although Claus Jensen is not guaranteed a place at present he is still one of the most talented in the Premiership. In goal, Dean Kiely continues to excel. But injuries would severely damage what is a small squad, as was shown at the start of the season. Next year could be a big one for Charlton.
