From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Spurs need to win the match at Stamford Bridge to retain any hope of winning the Premier League title, with a draw or defeat meaning Leicester will be crowned champions.
Lineker played for both Leicester and Tottenham during his career but he wants the Foxes to be the ones to come out on top.
It was against that background that the Match of the Day presenter tweeted: "Never thought I'd not want Spurs to beat Chelsea. Feel like I'm being unfaithful in a way, but this will never, ever happen again."
Lineker said earlier in the season that he would present the first episode of next season's Match of the Day in just his underpants if Leicester win the league.
He revealed that Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri is not overly keen on seeing Lineker nearly naked.
"Met Claudio Ranieri after the game," Lineker wrote on Twitter after Leicester's 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday. "He said 'Gary, I don't want to see you do MOTD in your pants.' Yes you do, Claudio.
