Fulham have rounded off a busy day in the transfer market with the capture of German youngster Christopher Buchtmann from Barclays Premier League rivals Liverpool.

Buchtmann joined Liverpool in 2008 from Borussia Dortmund and played a key part in helping Liverpool Under-18s reach the FA Youth Cup final in 2008-09.

The 17-year-old, who can play at left-back or in midfield, has signed an 18-month contract at Craven Cottage.

Buchtmann was named among UEFA's top 10 stars of the future in May 2009 and also featured for Germany when they won the UEFA Under-17 European Championship last year.

Fulham manager Roy Hodgson signed left-back Nicky Shorey on loan from Aston Villa earlier today and now has adequate cover for Paul Konchesky, who is out with a foot injury.

Hodgson also signed Roma striker Stefano Okaka today and allowed Diomansy Kamara to join Celtic on loan.

Heading the other way, Fulham midfielder Wayne Brown has joined Coca-Cola League One side Bristol Rovers on a one-month loan deal.

Brown, 21, had a loan spell with Finnish side Turun Palloseura last season and will hope to get more first-team experience under his belt at the Memorial Stadium.

The Fulham academy graduate goes straight into Paul Trollope's squad for the Pirates' match against Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road tomorrow night.

Sheffield United have signed Fulham defender Toni Kallio on loan until the end of the season.

Finland international Kallio made two appearances for the Blades during an initial loan spell in December, but Blades manager Kevin Blackwell was then foiled in his bid to extend the 31-year-old's stay at Bramall Lane.

Blackwell said: "We got him agreed on Christmas Eve, but then he was recalled straight away because Fulham had injuries and a lot of games coming up in January.

"But Roy Hodgson promised he would look at it again and, true to his word, he has. Toni did very well for us and I'm glad that this move is done and we have him until the end of the season.

"He has played in the Premier League recently, ticks all the boxes and, importantly, knows our place and players so he doesn't have to start to get to know the place."
