Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin has signed a new "long-term" contract, the club announced today.

The 20-year-old, who has featured in defence recently due to an injury crisis, himself joined the casualty list as he suffered a hamstring problem in last night's FA Cup win over Leeds.

However his future at the Emirates Stadium is secure after the agreement of his new deal, which Arsenal confirmed on their official website.

Coquelin has made 12 first-team appearances for Arsenal in this campaign, after spending last season on loan with French top-flight club Lorient.
