From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Manchester United's former shaggy-haired midfielder Karel Poborsky has gone full hipster.

Here is a picture of the now retired Czech Republic player from last night, playing for United in their Legends charity match against Liverpool.

Sporting his fashionable new look, the 43-year-old scored in the match, netting a delightful dink to level the scores at 1-1 (watch below).

United would go on to win the game, at the Friends Arena in Stockholm 4-2, with former stars Dwight Yorke, Jesper Blomqvist and, erm, Bojan Djordjic all scoring.

Vladimir Smicer and David Thompson scored for Liverpool.

It was a glorious chipped goal, scored for Czech Republic against Portugal at Villa Park during Euro '96, which made the footballing world sit up and take note of Poborsky, but he never did quite replicate it at United.

Despite being part of the squad to win the Premier League title in 1997, Poborsky would only stay at United for two full seasons, leaving to join Benfica in 1998.
