"It's a competition we take very seriously," said the veteran striker, who played for the Bees while on loan from Queen's Park Rangers 12 years ago. "We were winners a couple of years ago and I would like to get back to a final and hopefully into Europe again. With that in mind we will be taking the game at Brentford as seriously as any other, it's important that we start well."
Brentford are set to name an unchanged side, with the on-loan pair Simon Marsh and Dean Crowe expected to continue in defence.
West Ham will have to patch up some of their injured players again for the tricky trip to Walsall. Rio Ferdinand (hip), Trevor Sinclair (groin) and Frédéric Kanouté (hamstring) have all been unable to train but were forced into action in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Sunday.
