Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang

Though he disappointed and failed to score against Southampton at the weekend, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gets our nod again ahead of the midweek fixtures.

Arsenal welcome Bournemouth to the Emirates and Eddie Howe’s side are regular whipping boys away from home for the ‘top six’ clubs.

Bournemouth have conceded 30 goals on the road this season, more than any other top-flight team bar Fulham.

Leroy Sané

Manchester City’s fixtures over the coming weeks are excellent, starting with West Ham United at home on Wednesday night.

But the concern is that after playing 120 minutes at Wembley on Sunday, Pep Guardiola is likely to rotate and rest some of his EFL Cup winners.

Leroy Sané is one of the safer bets. The winger has only been used sparingly of late and played just 34 minutes against Chelsea as a substitute.

Raul Jimenez

One of this season’s fantasy favourites, Raul Jimenez maintained his recent spurt of form with a goal from the penalty spot against Bournemouth at the weekend.

Jimenez has four in his last four outings and it would be no surprise if he added a fifth or six against a doomed Huddersfield Town side on Tuesday night.

Jan Siewert has thus far failed to stop the rot in west Yorkshire and is still waiting for his first clean sheet, let alone his first win.

Miguel Almiron

Supporters of Newcastle United are getting excited about new signing Miguel Almiron and so should fantasy managers.

The new arrival from Major League Soccer’s Atlanta United was instrumental in their win over Huddersfield at the weekend, even if he did not register a goal or assist.

Returns are surely only around the corner for the Paraguayan, with Newcastle enjoying a favourable set of fixtures between now and the end of the season.

Ashley Barnes

It’s becoming more and more difficult to ignore Ashley Barnes and few of us thought we would be saying that a few weeks ago.

Actually, he was one of our ‘honourable mentions’ in gameweek 25, but even we would not have tipped him to score four goals in as many games.

Barnes comes up against Almiron’s Newcastle at St James’ Park before an inviting meeting with Crystal Palace at Turf Moor this weekend.

Honourable mentions: Rui Patricio, Sead Kolasinac, Ricardo Pereira, Nathan Redmond, Salomon Rondon.
