Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Alexandre Lacazette
Alexandre Lacazette may not have offered much in the way of attacking returns during Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Leicester City but his form of late still cannot be ignored.
Last Monday’s win was Lacazette’s only blank in seven games and though Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice, Arsenal’s other premium forward started the night on the bench.
Unai Emery’s decision to play Aubameyang from the off against Sporting on Thursday night suggests Lacazette will start at Crystal Palace this weekend for a potential return to form.
Andrew Robertson
Liverpool’s meeting with Cardiff City at Anfield on Saturday jumps out on the weekend fixture list, with three points expected for Jurgen Klopp’s title contenders.
Neil Warnock’s Cardiff have only one away goal to their name and will meet a defence that has not conceded at home in the league since February.
Andrew Robertson seems a must-have, offering attacking threat down the left flank as well as potential clean sheet points.
Jose Holebas
While Robertson falls firmly in the ‘premium’ category of defenders, Watford’s Jose Holebas offers a low-to-mid price option.
The left-back has four assists already this season and, having been handed free-kick and corner duties by Javi Gracia, he is regularly creating chances.
This weekend’s visit of Huddersfield Town looks promising on the defensive side, too. David Wagner’s side have scored just four times, the lowest total of any top-flight side.
David Brooks
One player steadily flying under the radar is Bournemouth’s David Brooks, who has made a promising start to life in the top flight having moved south from Sheffield United this summer.
Brooks drew a blank against Southampton last week but can still boast two goals in his last three outings.
At £5.1m, he provides a budget option in midfield and, at 1.9 per cent ownership, could also be a useful differential.
Danny Ings
Much of Southampton’s attacking threat comes through Danny Ings and his three-match goalless streak will worry Mark Hughes.
Ings is at least doing all he can to end his scoring drought, peppering the opposition goalkeeper with shots and getting himself into decent scoring positions.
Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle United visit St Mary’s on Saturday, still in search of their first win, having so far struggled to keep things tight at the back.
Honourable mentions: Ben Foster, Marcos Alonso, James Maddison, Mohamed Salah, Callum Wilson.
