After Arsenal’s 3-1 victory over Sunderland on Saturday, which featured the debut of the £42.5m club-record signing Mesut Ozil, Gunners players were quick to speak about the quality of their new team-mate and the impact he will have on their side.

"Everything is easier with this player," Olivier Giroud, who was assisted by Ozil for the opening goal, told arsenal.com. "He always plays in the right way, nothing else.

"He has a fantastic, lovely first touch so it is really easy to find each other, especially for the third goal.

"I feel really good on the pitch in my relationships, especially with our new player, Mesut. There are a lot of good feelings."

Aaron Ramsey, who scored two goals in the victory at the Stadium of Light, added: "He's a fantastic player and is very gifted. He's going to create a lot of opportunities for us.

"He has a wonder of a left foot. He caresses the ball and the passes seem to be of a perfect weight and right into people's strides."

Jack Wilshere called Ozil "top quality", and says the 24-year-old former Real Madrid player will fit right into the team.

"He's a top quality player," the England midfielder said. "We play football and he's going to fit in. He's shown that after one game. There's a lot more to come from him and if he can stay fit and get in that position a lot more, if we can get him on the ball behind their midfield, he's going to cause the opposition a big problem."

Ozil is set to play at Marseilles in the Champions League on Wednesday night, as Arsenal look to extend their winning run away from home to 10 matches in all competitions.
