Stoke manager Tony Pulis has been warned as to his future conduct by the Football Association after making complimentary comments about referee Howard Webb.

Pulis praised the appointment of Webb for his side's FA Cup semi-final against Bolton last month prior to the game.

The Potters boss is the latest manager to fall foul of new FA rules stipulating managers should not comment on referees before matches.

Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson and Carlo Ancelotti of Chelsea have both been similarly warned in recent days.

Pulis said of Webb: "He's as good as there is. What makes him special is that little bit of an aura he has about him."

A statement read: "The FA has today warned Tony Pulis as to his future conduct.

"The Stoke City manager's warning relates to his pre-match media comments prior to the FA Cup semi-final against Bolton Wanderers on April 17."
