Arsene Wenger has made five changes to the team that beat Crystal Palace last week, with German pair Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker making their first appearances of the season.

Nacho Monreal will start at left-back in place of the injured Kieran Gibbs, while there are places for Mathieu Flamini, in place for captain Mikel Arteta, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in midfield.

Laurent Koscielny is on the bench as is Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla, who struggled against Palace last week.

For the home side Roberto Martinez makes two changes with Seamus Coleman replacing John Stones and Kevin Mirallas in for goalscorer Aiden McGeady.

Martinez switches from a 3-5-2 to a 4-2-3-1 for this match.

Line-ups:

Everton: Howard; Coleman, Jagielka, Distin, Baines; Barry, McCarthy, Mirallas, Naismith, Pienaar; Lukaku.

Subs: Robles, McGeady, Besic, Atsu, Osman, Stones, Alcaraz.

Arsenal: Szczesny, Debuchy, Mertesacker, Chambers, Monreal, Flamini, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Wilshere, Ramsey, Ozil, Alexis

Subs: Martinez, Koscielny, Rosicky, Bellerin, Giroud, Cazorla, Campbell.
