Arsenal held Everton in a poor game at Goodison Park that will give new managers Mikel Arteta and Carlo Ancelotti much to ponder.

The Italian, appointed less than an hour before kick-off as the new Everton boss, and new Gunners boss Arteta both watched from the stands with interest.

Freddie Ljungberg in his final match as caretaker boss, made five changes, including Mesut Ozil missing out entirely through injury, in a desperate bid to discover some inspiration.

In a low quality game, very few did enough to convince their new bosses they should be pivotal to their plans.

Here are the player ratings from Goodison Park.
