Sheffield United earned a surprise win at Goodison Park thanks to an own goal from defender Yerry Mina and a second-half strike by Lys Mousset.
Mina put the ball in his own net from a corner five minutes before half-time. Alex Iwobi came close to levelling in the second half, but his quickfire shot was turned away by Dean Henderson.
Another talking point during the second half was the return of Phil Jagielka to Goodison, who came on for his boyhood club to a warm reception.
In search of a goal, Marco Silva had six attackers on the pitch at once as he looked to salvage a point. It wasn't to be, and Mousset clinched the points as he nutmegged Jordan Pickford following a brilliant ball by John Lundstram.
The result means Chris Wilder's side continue their steady start to the season, lying in 10th and level with Chelsea and Arsenal, who play Liverpool and Aston Villa respectively.
Everton meanwhile will be disappointed as they failed to redeem their comprehensive 3-1 defeat at Bournemouth last Sunday. The Toffees have had an inconsistent start to the season and now sit 13th with teams still to play on Sunday.
Norwich brought back down to earth by Wood double
Burnley brought Norwich back down to earth with a 2-0 victory at Turf Moor, halting the Canaries momentum from their shock win over Manchester City last week.
The Clarets took the lead through Chris Wood whose header from a corner was glanced home expertly. The New Zealander doubled his tally just four minutes later converting Dwight McNeil's low cross, giving Burnley a 2-0 lead just 13 minutes in.
Burnley were denied a penalty in the second half, Ben Godfrey looked to have brought down Ashley Barnes with clear contact but the appeals were turned away.
Norwich applied some pressure late on as Moritz Leitner, formerly of Dortmund, placed his curling shot inches wide. But Sean Dyche's side in typical Burnley fashion saw out the game with resilience.
Burnley now sit seventh, and in the Europa League places, whilst Norwich slip to 15th.
