Romelu Lukaku will commit his future to Everton, player's agent confirms

Mino Raiola says the Premier League's top scorer 'will sign' despite rumours linking him with a move to Chelsea

Romelu Lukaku is set to commit his long-term future to Everton with the player's agent Mino Raiola adamant he "will sign" a new deal.

The Belgian forward has been the subject of transfer speculation after stalling on an extension to his contract in recent weeks.

If Lukaku seemed a bit of a gamble for Everton when they broke a club record transfer fee to sign him for £28m in 2014, then his abundance of goals this season have dispelled any doubts.

The 23-year-old catapulted to the top of the Premier League goal scoring charts after netting four against Bournemouth last weekend and manager Ronald Koeman has since been outspoken in his desire to tie his star player down to a new deal.

"If players see a future in the club and the team is improving and getting stronger every day that is always a plus for them to stay," Koeman said.

"That is what we need to show him so he is convinced the short future is at Everton."

Lukaku is currently on a £75,000-a-week deal that will keep him at the club until 2019, but with interest from his former side Chelsea and a host of other leading clubs, Everton are

And in good news for the Toffees and their supporters, Raiola has confirmed the player is happy to sign.

“There are no problems right now between the player and the club," the Italian told TalkSport.

“Talks are ongoing. He will sign.”
