Marco Silva has told Richarlison he must learn quickly from his "daft" moment of madness.

The Everton winger was sent off for headbutting Bournemouth defender Adam Smith in the first half of Saturday's 2-2 draw.

The £40million Brazilian has had a positive impact at Goodison Park since his summer move from Watford, scoring three times in his first two games.

But the 21-year-old showed his petulant side at the Vitality Stadium and will now serve a three-match ban.

"Of course he can't react in that moment, even if somebody provokes or fouls him," said Silva. "It's normal at this level, you have to play football, just play football, nothing more.

"Do what is your job, where you are strong, do the things in normal life, and forget the other things. He's a boy, he has to learn, it's a daft moment for him and for us but he has to learn fast."

After Richarlison's dismissal, goals from Theo Walcott and Michael Keane put Everton in control.

But the hosts, who had Smith sent off at 1-0, recovered to secure a draw thanks to Joshua King's penalty and a close-range finish from Nathan Ake.

Bournemouth have now taken 20 points from losing positions in 2018 and manager Eddie Howe is delighted with his team's resolve.

"I think when you're behind it's very difficult to come back and you've got to get a lot right," said Howe.

"To chase a game, you leave yourself open for counter-attacks, you have to really commit to believing you can do it so I think we have shown a lot of steel, a lot of determination to do it and that's really good from the mental perspective.

"It shows we are never out of a game and that's a great quality to have."
