Emile Heskey has been released by Aston Villa, ending his three-and-a-half-year stay at the club.
The 34-year-old who scored once in 29 appearances for the Midlands club this season, joined from Wigan Athletic in 2009 after spells at Liverpool and Birmingham City. Goalkeeper Brad Guzan and defender Carlos Cuellar have also been released.
Villa's No 1 Shay Given travels to London today to have his knee problem examined but is to remain in the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2012 squad.
West Ham have released Julien Faubert, John Carew, Abdoulaye Faye and Papa Bouba Diop at the end of their contracts.
