The England international, who has managed just 19 appearances all season and five goals, underwent surgery on a problematic hip complaint.
Posting to his Instagram page, all appears to have gone well for the 25-year-old.
"Just want to let the world know I've had a successful operation on my hip today and I want to thank God for allowing that to be possible," he wrote alongside a picture of him in a hospital bed.
"Onwards and upwards from here. Thanks for the support. Daniel x"
Sturridge flew to Boston to receive the specialist treatment by medics employed by Fenway Sports Group, the John W. Henry led company that owns Liverpool.
It's not yet clear how long Sturridge will be sidelined, with fears it could extend in to next season.
Liverpool have been linked with a number of targets this summer as they look to address the striker issues that have followed the sale of Luis Suarez last summer. Memphis Depay, Edinson Cavani and Jackson Martinez have been linked with moves to Anfield.
