Frank Lampard has transformed the Blues’ defence, with just 11 conceded in the Premier League this season at one goal conceded per game, compared to 54 conceded last season at 1.42 goals conceded per game.
The Blues are two points behind leaders Spurs and champions Liverpool, but Neville believes Lampard has made his side “adaptable”, which can make them “a real threat” in the title race.

“Chelsea are impressing me, they have a real chance,” Neville said on The Gary Neville Podcast.
“I think Chelsea have more of a chance [than Tottenham for the title]. They have Kante, they have Thiago Silva, players that could navigate them to it. There's a winning culture, [Roman] Abramovich wins trophies. They have good players and players that can do the ugly side of the game. They're a real threat.
“They won 4-0 in Seville and then ran Leeds off the pitch. They’re an adaptable team, a team that can take on what Lampard wants them to do.

“One week it's, ‘I want you to change, sit off, be measured, don’t get hit by the Mourinho trick and get counterpunched. Sit back, we’ll get chances and we’ll win 1-0’.
“He made sure they didn’t lose the game and that’s a mature coach that does that.”
After the midweek Champions League match with Krasnodar, with top spot already locked up, the Blues will take on Everton on Saturday.
With Spurs and Liverpool playing on Sunday again, the Blues will have the chance to regain top spot for the second time in a week after fighting back against Leeds to temporarily usurp their rivals and apply pressure.
