Thibaut Courtois cost Chelsea a goal at Villa Park and has paid for it with veteran goalkeeper Petr Cech returning between the sticks. Gary Cahill has also dropped back to the bench, with Kurt Zouma coming in, while Loic Remy starts in place of Didier Drogba.
Cesc Fabregas has missed the last two matches with injury but is not trusted to start.
For Everton, Tim Howard makes his first appearance since Boxing Day, coming for Joel Robles.
Roberto Martinez makes two other changes with Ross Barkley replacing Kevin Mirallas and Aaron Lennon making his first start in place of James MCarthy.
