This latest defeat, the eighth of a torrid campaign for Jose Mourinho’s side, leaves the Blues in 14th position in the Premier League table as the Cherries climb out of the bottom three.
Now within just two points of their defeated hosts, the recently-promoted outfit deserved the see off the reigning champions after testing Thibaut Courtois at regular intervals.
But they had to wait until eight minutes from time for their due rewards as Murray, the former Crystal Palace striker, capitalised on hesitant defending to seal a historic win for Eddie Howe’s men.
Jose Mourinho elected to keep striker Diego Costa on the bench, but he turned to the Brazil-born Spain international at half-time as his side struggled to make in-roads against a determined Bournemouth defence.
Costa could only pick up a yellow card, and the latest defeat consigned Chelsea to their eighth loss of what is rapidly turning into a dismal season to forget.
