Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Jose Mourinho's only injury concern heading into the opening weekend of the Premier League is with star striker Diego Costa.
There is still a chance that the Spanish striker, who is again suffering with hamstring problems, could play on Saturday evening at home to Swansea City.
Costa took part in some form of training on Thursday and Friday but it is so far unclear what he actually did in the sessions - Mourinho is set to speak in a press conference at around 4pm where he will give a full update on the status of the striker.
The 26-year-old only played 135 pre-season minutes across three matches out of a possible five this summer and was left out of the Community Shield and defeat to Fiorentina on Wednesday to give him more time to recover.
If he is not fit, Mourinho will have to decide between Loic Remy, who played poorly in the first-half of the Community Shield, and Radamel Falcao, who has seen only limited action in pre-season after returning from the Copa America.
After moving from Atletico Madrid last summer Costa took the Premier League by storm in the first part of the season, scoring 17 goals.
But he struggled after mid-January, scoring just three more goals between 17 January and the end of the season as injuries took their toll.
