Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has said that star striker Diego Costa may not play again this season... if the Blues manage to beat Crystal Palace and win the Premier League title.

Costa, who has 19 league goals in his debut season in England, has not played since he lasted just 11 minutes as a substitute against Stoke on 4 April.

But with Chelsea only needing to beat Alan Pardew's team on Sunday to win a fourth title of the Roman Abramovich era, Mourino said he may allow the 26-year-old to take the rest of the season off.

Costa has suffered six hamstring injuries this season and has issues stretching back to last season.

"No, it isn't worth the risk [Costa playing against Crystal Palace," said Mourinho at his press conference.

Because the results in the last month were always victories and a draw. We don't need to rush There is a chance of not [Costa playing again this season].

"If we win Sunday, I would say he doesn't play against Liverpool. If we need a result against Liverpool. he will play."

However, Chelsea do have some good news after the Portuguese manager confirmed that Loic Remy is set to return.

The French striker scored two crucial winning goals against Hull and then Stoke but, like Costa, he has not played since 4 April.
