Your support makes all the difference.Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has been banned from driving for six months after being caught speeding at more than double the speed limit in Surrey.
The 28-year-old was caught going 110mph on the A3 Esher bypass in Surrey by police officer PC John Kelly holding a speed camera - the limit on the road is 50mph.
Fabregas pleaded guilty at Guilford Magistrates' Court on Friday, charged with exceeding the speed limit.
The Spanish star, said to have been driving a green Aston Martin Vantage, was fined a total of £2,565, with a £1,000 fine, £625 court costs, £840 to the expert who examined the camera and a £100 victim surcharge. Fabregas already had six points on his licence and a further six for this offence meant he was given an automatic six month ban.
"Certainly, he has learned his lesson today. He [Fabregas] is genuinely remorseful. He has learned his lesson and wishes to draw a line [under the matter]," Fabregas' barrister Ben Waidhofer told the court, report Get Surrey.
"This is not somebody who is repeatedly before the court for troubling speed cameras, running red lights, driving without insurance and driving without a licence.
"That doesn't arise in this case. What I can tell you is that this is somebody who will not be doing it again.
"This not somebody who is persistently breaking road traffic laws," added Mr Waidhofer. "In just under 10 years, he has two endorsements on his licence."
In May, Fabregas was given six points and another £1,000 fine for failing to identify the driver of his car in a previous incident in 2014.
Mr Waidhofer had urged the judge to apply a lesser ban and also indicated that the defence planned to appeal the length of the disqualification.
