John Carver has returned to Newcastle United for a second spell as assistant manager.
The 46-year-old, who fulfilled the same role under Sir Bobby Robson between 1999 and 2004, has joined until the end of the season. "I'm delighted to be bringing John on board," manager Alan Pardew said. "He has an excellent track record and knows this club very well."
After leaving St James' Park following Robson's sacking in 2004, Carver has worked at Leeds, Luton, Plymouth and Sheffield United. He also spent a year as manager of Major League Soccer side Toronto.
