Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Jamie carragher will discuss his Liverpool future at the start of next season but the vice-captain has stressed he does not want to play for another team.
Reports in March suggested the 32-year-old would walk out on the club he joined as a youngster if he did not get a new contract offer with terms that suited him. However, Carragher said yesterday that he wanted to finish his career with Liverpool and had already broached the subject with Rafael Benitez, whose own future remains in doubt after a disappointing season.
"I've spoken to the manager and we both agreed it would be better if we talked about it at the start of next season," said the centre-back. "There was an interview with a national newspaper and the headline was a bit misleading, saying I would be prepared to leave Liverpool. I want to finish my career at Liverpool. I don't want to play for anyone else."
