The Italian was immediately installed as the favourite to replace Brendan Rodgers alongside Jurgen Klopp when Liverpool announced on Sunday that they were seeking a new manager.
Whilst the latter has been in talks with Liverpool this week, Ancelotti has remained a possible option for the Anfield club. However, the former Chelsea manager has indicated he is not wanting to end his spell away from the game just yet, leaving Klopp as the only serious contender for the role.
Speaking at the Inspiring Leaders Awards, he said: "I enjoy my time now but of course I want to come back to manage - to work - because it is my passion.
"I want to take my time to rest, but next season I am ready."
Ancelotti, who is one of the most coveted managers in Europe with three Champions League title triumphs, has been tipped to take over at Bayern Munich should Pep Guardiola leave next summer.
