Mourinho lost his job on Tuesday, with his poor relationship with the dressing room one of several factors in his demise.
Pogba and Mourinho's relationship was particularly strained, with the midfielder stripped of the vice-captaincy in October and dropped for United's last two league outings.
However, in the wake of Solskjaer's victory at Cardiff, Pogba thanked Mourinho for his work at Old Trafford and winning the Europa League and EFL Cup in their first season.
“We are really happy for the result. We played well and the performance of the team was great," he said. “We won trophies with Jose and I want to thank him for that. We work even if not everything went well.
“But things went well and we won trophies. He makes me improve, as a person as well and that's it.
“That's the past, I went to thank him for that. I'm sure that is the same of all the players and now we are looking forward to the next game.
“We want to go back to the top of the league," Pogba added.
“That's all I want to say, the performance of the team was great and we are happy that the first game of the manager starts like this. It's important now to carry on like that.
"We can not play like this and win with five goals and then the next game lose."
