From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It’s a big game for…

Danny Ings: He is likely to make his first start under Klopp after missing out most of last season to injury, now going up against the club where he made a name for himself.

Best stat…

Burnley have scored only twice in their last ten encounters with Liverpool.

Remember when…

Burnley knocked Liverpool out of the 2005 FA Cup as underdogs with a comical own goal from Djimi Traore.

Player to watch…

Sadio Mane: Granted, Liverpool have had their fingers burnt when it comes to big money signings in the past. Mane however, who joined for a fee not much short of Andy Carroll (who was famously goal shy at Anfield), already showed his value with a special debut goal against Arsenal last week and fits neatly in to Klopp’s intense style of football.

Past three-meetings…

Liverpool 2 (Henderson, Sturridge) Burnley 0, Premier League, March 2015

Burnley 0 Liverpool 1 (Sterling), Premier League, December 2014

Burnley 0 Liverpool 4 (Gerrard x2, Rodriguez, Babel), Premier League, April 2010

Form guide…

BURNLEY: LDLDLW
