Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Manchester United has given up hope of securing the services of French Euro 2000 star Laurent Blanc.
The defender has rejected three offers to join the Premiership champions over the summer. United boss Alex Ferguson said he has tried repeatedly to bring France goalkeeper Fabien Barthez's European Cup-winning teammate to Old Trafford only to be turned down by the veteran defender who is keen to stay at Inter Milan.
The 34-year-old has opted to finish out his career in Serie A for the Italian giants.
"We made three bids for Laurent but he turned them all down," Ferguson said. "Other than that, we've not bid for any other player." Indeed, Ferguson has been very quiet in the transfer market since his side lifted their sixth Premiership title in the last eight years in May, bringing in only Barthez from Monaco for £7.8m.
