Blackburn chairman John Williams has set the team a target of nine wins to save their season.

Rovers are second-bottom of the Barclays Premier League having failed to win in 10 matches.

That has put pressure on manager Paul Ince, who has endured a tough start to his first season in the top flight.

Speculation about his future continues to dog the former MK Dons boss and his position is bound to be a subject for discussion at today's monthly board meeting.

However, he is expected to remain in charge for Saturday's crunch derby at Wigan where Rovers will look to avoid a sixth successive league defeat.

Williams' nine-win target would take the club to 40 points and although the chairman is not yet panicking, he stressed the team have to start winning soon.

"We have 22 games left and the sooner we start picking up the wins the better the situation will look," he told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.

"The longer we go without a win the more difficult it becomes for us to get those wins we need.

"The players and the manager believe our fortunes will change once we get that first win, but we all know we need that win quickly."
