Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Dempsey met a cross from Carlos Salcido in the 56th minute and sent a powerful header past Paul Robinson for the equalizer.
Christopher Samba had given the host the lead in the 30th, taking advantage of sloppy defending to head the ball into an open net.
Fulham moved to seven points with its fourth draw in five games, while Blackburn has five.
Blackburn dominated the first half and nearly capitalized on some shaky goalkeeping by Mark Schwarzer, whose fumble let Morten Gamst Pedersen chip the ball toward the net but it was cleared off the line by defender Brede Hangeland.
The tall Norwegian defender then stopped striker Mame Biram Diouf when he was clear on goal.
Fulham looked a lot better in the second half, but Simon Davies wasted an early chance to equalize on a direct free kick.
Blackburn again started with 18-year-old Phil Jones as a holding midfielder instead of in his usual role in central defense, while former Rovers manager Mark Hughes used Damien Duff as replacement for forward Bobby Zamora, who suffered a broken leg last week against Wolverhampton.
