Beckham's fitness had caused concern after he aggravated an ankle injury during England's 1-1 draw against Holland last week. The United goalkeeper Fabien Barthez will step back between the posts after recovering from the back problem which kept him out of the national squad. Juan Sebastian Veron also hopes to return after missing three of the last four games with a slight knee injury.

The Polish international Arkadiusz Bak has had his loan spell at Birmingham City brought to an early end. The 27-year-old midfielder arrived on a three-month loan from Polish side Polonia Warsaw before Christmas. Walsall have signed Charlton's former Scotland Under-21 international full-back Greg Shields on a month's loan.
The Halifax Town chairman Bob Walker says he has received three enquiries from people interested in helping out the hard-up Third Division club. The calls came after Walker and the board of directors put the club up for sale last week.
Halifax received some much-needed funds yesterday when their defender Chris Clarke moved to Blackpool for a fee of £120,000.
