From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The fixture’s place on free-to-air television means it stands to become the most-watched Premier League match ever in the UK, with the previous record of 4.04m set by the April 2012 Manchester derby.
Bournemouth vs Palace has been pencilled in for a 7:45pm kick-off, which will wrap up the day’s action of four games allocated to each day across the weekend, on top of standalone matches on Friday and Monday night.
Bottom-club Norwich City will host Everton in the BBC's second game.
The remaining 92 Premier League matches, which have been delayed by the coronavirus pandemic, are due to take place behind closed doors and will all be broadcast live on either the BBC, BT Sport, Sky Sports or Amazon Prime Video.
Viewers without pay TV subscriptions will still be able to watch the season run-in. Amazon has announced that its four remaining fixtures will be available for free, while Sky also plans to make 25 of its 64 remaining games free-to-air.
“Like the rest of the country, we are excited to see the Premier League return to action,” said Alex Green, managing director of Prime Video Sport Europe. “We will be making all four of Amazon Prime Video’s additional fixtures in the 2019/20 season available free of charge; fans will not need a Prime membership to view the games on Prime Video.”
